Where to eat – the “Mensa”

Between Building 17 and the Auditorium in Building 6 is Building 7, which houses the University’s main catering facility, known as the Mensa, which offers hot and cold food and drinks (on weekdays only). At lunchtime you will find a range of hot meals, as well as a generous salad buffet, desserts, soft drinks and snacks, all at student-friendly prices. Cold snacks such as filled rolls, cakes or yogurts are available all day, as are hot and cold beverages.

Payment is made using your student ID card, your Campus CaRT; there is a terminal on the ground floor of Building 7 where you can load credit on to your card using your EC card. You can also do this at one of the check-outs inside. It is possible to pay the old-fashioned way, in cash, but this is more expensive, as you will be charged as a guest and not as a student.

Do you have questions about using your card to make cashless payments?

The staff in the Mensa will be happy to answer your questions, although it would be good if you had a German speaker on hand to help interpret! You can also phone the Information Point at the main Mensa at Tübingen University on +49 (0)7071 29-73830 from 10 am – 3.30 pm Monday – Friday (the catering facilities in Reutlingen and Tübingen are run by the same Student Services organisation – the Studierendenwerk Tübingen-Hohenheim.)
