Visit from Pune to Reutlingen University

Yesterday, we had the pleasure of welcoming 10 students and 3 headteachers from Pune, India, as well as 2 staff members from the local Goethe-Institute, to our campus. It was wonderful to introduce these eager young talents, all with a basic knowledge of German, to our university, showcasing its wide range of courses and providing information about studying in Germany.

A special thanks goes to Ann-Magritt Linster from the University Communication Department, Karin Bukenberger from the Institute for Foreign Languages (IfF), Claudia Frank from the Reutlingen International Office (RIO), Dr. Gracia Llorca Llinaresfrom the get staRTed programme – our preparatory programme for international prospective students, which provides the German language skills required for studying at the university. Thank you also Frederik Gregor Jaouiche and Katharina Betz who presented the degree programmes at the ESB Business School, and to Kevin Wolz for his support. The guests were given a tour of the campus and gained insights into various faculties and degree programmes, the hangar of the IPE course, a laboratory in Biomedical Sciences, as well as a lab in Media and Communication Studies. Many thanks to the colleagues from the TEC, LS and INF schools for their contributions. A shared lunch in the cafeteria with other university colleagues rounded off the visit, providing an opportunity for personal interaction and networking.

Reutlingen University places particular emphasis on international educational collaborations, such as its partnership with the Goethe-Institute Pune within the framework of the PASCH initiative (“Schools: Partners for the Future”). This global network supports young people worldwide by fostering intercultural skills, promoting German as a foreign language, connecting schools across the globe, and opening up educational and career opportunities. Through programmes such as get staRTed and the language courses offered by the IfF, Reutlingen University specifically prepares international students for studying in Germany, supports their integration in Reutlingen, and provides opportunities in the German labour market. Encounters like these demonstrate how education builds bridges and empowers talented individuals from all over the world.
