Biomedical Sciences (MSc)The consecutive Biomedical Sciences degree programme is aimed at students with a Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Sciences, Chemistry, or comparable relevant degree programmes and is taught in English. The programme focuses on the interaction between biological systems and materials. Students work on the development of innovative medical products and biocompatible materials such as stent coatings, cartilage replacements or artificial heart valves.

Business Informatics Master

Business Information Systems deals with the conception, design, development and application of computer-aided information and communication systems in industry, service sectors and administrative organisations. One of the main reasons for the introduction of Information Systems as a degree programme is the high demand for corresponding interdisciplinary expertise in the economy, combined with attractive employment opportunities for graduates in the national and international arena.

Decentralised energy systems and energy efficiency

In the first semester, students learn the technical and economic basics for assessing decentralised energy systems and energy efficiency. The compulsory elective modules allow students to deepen their knowledge, skills and competences.

Specialisation is made possible by choosing the specialisation "Energy Technology" or "Energy Economics" in the second semester. In addition to teaching the specialist content, the project-based teaching format and interdisciplinary cooperation between the two specialisations "Energy Technology" and "Energy Economics" are at the forefront in order to train technical and economic perspectives.

Design

This Master’s degree can be studied with four specialisations:  

1. The focus of Fashion Design is to deepen artistic skills in designing fashion, making fashion collections, and understanding the concepts that are behind the clothing collections themselves. Other key topics include current developments in art and design, trends, the influence of the media on society and politics, as well as marketing and presentation techniques.     
2. The focus of Transportation Interior Design deepens skills and knowledge acquired during the Bachelor’s degree program in the areas of design, visualisation, colour and trim, as well as material concepts in transportation interior design. It prepares students for their future work in the industry through its unique hands-on approach.  
3. The focus of Textile Design/Material & Surface Design is on the textile, colour, and material design for architecture, fashion, and transportation. Collection concepts in the field of fabrics are further developed and both textile and collection design are taught in our high-tech laboratories.  
4. The focus of Artistic Conception combines the concepts and solutions of creative design approaches with the open experiment of the visual arts. The means of expression depend on the projects involved and in addition to painting and drawing, students will engage in media such as computers, film, photography, and installation.

Digital Business Engineering

The Master's degree programme in Digital Business Engineering teaches in-depth IT skills in innovative core topics of business informatics. The focus is on engineering methods combined with the formal know-how of analysis and modelling for complex IT-based value creation processes, as well as the technical and strategic know-how for the comprehensive and pervasive computerisation of companies. The course takes place at the Herman-Hollerith Teaching and Research Centre of the Faculty of Computer Science in Böblingen.

The Digital Industrial Management and Engineering degree programme focuses on applied research into digitalisation in industry. Reutlingen University offers this Master’s degree programme in cooperation with Stellenbosch University’s Department of Industrial Engineering in South Africa.

European Management Studies 

Over two years, this trilingual (DE/FR/EN) programme trains up graduates from non-economics degree programmes into experts in the field of German-French economics. Students spend their 1^st semester in Reutlingen, the 2^nd on an internship and the 3^rd and 4^th semesters at the Ecole de Management of the University of Strasbourg. At the end of their studies, graduates receive two Master’s degrees, one from Reutlingen University and one from the University of Strasbourg.

Mechanical Engineering Master

The Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering, including the Master's thesis, leads to the internationally recognised degree of "Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering" in just three semesters. The programme teaches state-of-the-art, selected course content from all areas of general mechanical engineering. New lectures such as operational stability or digital factory as well as internships, for example in the CAQ laboratory, guarantee an engineering education at a high professional level. Some of the lectures are held in English.

The Master's degree in Mechatronics leads to the internationally recognised title of Master of Science (M.Sc.) in just three semesters. The programme provides in-depth knowledge in current areas of mechatronics. Computer-aided design methods and simulation tools are used to a large extent.

Operations ManagementOperations Management will teach you to combine engineering skills with management expertise, and how to work independently in a team on complex production, logistics and supply chain management projects – together with companies or research institutes.

Power and microelectronics

The Power and Microelectronics course focuses on power electronics, analogue circuits, digital systems and design tools. As graduates acquire in-depth knowledge of electronic components, they are particularly well qualified to subsequently develop components as well as the circuits and systems based on them in industry.

Textile Chain Research 

Graduates with Bachelor's degrees in Textile Technology/Textile Management and International Fashion Retail can enter the Master's degree course in Textile Chain Research directly afterwards. This degree course focuses primarily on systematically applying previously acquired knowledge to specific problems. Students must work on problems within a range of different projects and learn to familiarise themselves methodically and systematically with new fields of knowledge. Two areas of specialisation are available: Textile Technology/Technical Textiles and Textile Management & Retail Research.

Environmental Protection

The Master's programme leads to a Master of Engineering - Environmental Protection in four semesters. It teaches environmental protection skills and the particularly cross-sectional nature of the subject area at the same time demonstrates. The universities of Reutlingen, Esslingen, Stuttgart, and Nürtingen-Geislingen cooperate on the programme. They train students for a career in municipal, technical, or biological-ecological environmental protection.
