Intensive course "German Language and Culture"

The intensive course "German Language and Culture" is offered for international students who will be studying at Reutlingen University in Winter Semester 2019/20.

This course acts as an introduction to the German language and enables students to develop their language skills and make the start of their studies and integration into life on campus at Reutlingen University as smooth as possible. As well as the core classroom-based sessions, we offer an accompanying programme with a number of additional activities.

Course duration: September 16 - October 2, 2019

Time: Monday - Friday, 9 a.m. - 3 p.m. (total of 90 teaching hours)

ECTS Credits: Upon successful completion students will receive a certificate and ECTS Credits (6 credits with intercultural training, 5 credits without intercultural training).

Language levels:Levels A1 to C2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (beginners to advanced speakers)

Group size: 15 - 20 students per group

  • At the start of the course an assessment test is carried out, after which students are placed in groups according to their skill levels. Tuition in the intermediate and advanced groups includes instruction in Business German.
  • All groups are taught by experienced trainers with extensive knowledge in the field of "German as a Foreign Language" for international students.

  • Tours of the towns of Reutlingen and Tübingen
  • Excursions to Lake Constance and Heidelberg (€10 additional charge each)
  • Intercultural training
  • Information on studying in Germany
  • Assistance with registration formalities
  • Further free-time activities (barbecue, evening sessions with films, games or sports)

Course fee: €250 (including classroom materials and accompanying programme; additional charge for excursions). The course fee must be paid in cash on the first day of the course.

Please note: If you need a visa in order to travel to Germany, you should apply for this in good time (approx. 4-6 weeks before your departure date) from the German Embassy or a German Consulate General.
If you wish to withdraw from the course, you may do so by email up to one week before the start of the course without charge. If you register for the course but do not take part and do not inform us that you wish to withdraw, we will impose an administrative fee of at least €50.
