Go out 2010 - Study Worldwide!

The Reutlingen International Office (RIO) was ready for the 4th time to successfully take part in the initiative “Go out- study worldwide”, An initiative of the German Academic Exchange Service and the Federal Ministry for Education and Research.

The Study Abroad Fair

Within the context of our provisions we produced a short movie, offered intercultural workshops, and initiated an International Day on Thursday, May 20, 2010 in the lobby of the Cafeteria.

The faculties present with information booths were Engineering, Applied Chemistry, Textiles & Design, Informatics, and the central Career Services. Collectively we provided information about our International Cooperation’s, the possibilities to study or work abroad for a semester, and the available options for financial aid.

The director of RIO, Baldur Veit, opened the Study Abroad Fair at 10:30 a.m. Presentations were presented from Travel Works “Ways to go abroad—Internships Abroad”, and “Work and Travel worldwide”,  from the Institution of Ranke-Heinemann “Study in Austrailia and New Zealand”, from InWEnt “Internships worldwide with scholarships”, and from GoAustrailia “Studying in Austrailia and New Zealand.” We provided a breadth of information such as studying possibilities, experiences, scholarships and financial resources.

Once more in the Summer Semester of 2010 we offered numerous regional competence workshops within the framework of the SWiTCH project from RIO. Workshops on China, Russia, South Afrika, Japan, USA, Latin American and Mexico as well as one workshop on “Intercultural Management” were offered. The students acquired basics about intercultural competence and communication and will thus be capable of completing a successful semester abroad.

The Movie

In the course of the campaign we will implement a video project and shoot a film in association with CampusTV. For this purpose we have invited students from all faculties to give an account about their experiences abroad. The students, outgoing as well as incoming were around the world in places such as China, Spain, Turkey, Russia, England, and Thailand, to name but a few.

And now the movie is online:
