Health Insurance
It is compulsory for students in Germany to have health insurance. If you have no health insurance, you will not be allowed to register at the University. Student health insurance is available for approx. 55 EUR per month with the AOK (a German health insurance company).
Students from EU countries should bring a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). You will have to show this card to the AOK, and you will then receive a certificate exempting you from paying for German health insurance. You must show this exemption certificate when you register (enrol) with Reutlingen University.
Non-EU students must also provide evidence that they have health insurance. This may be in the form of a health insurance certificate or card from your insurance provider at home. The University will then inform the AOK that you are insured, and you will be given a document exempting you from paying for German health insurance. This exemption certificate must be presented to the University before you can register as a student.
If you go to see a doctor or dentist, you will receive a bill from the German doctor after treatment , which you will probably have to pay in the first instance. The money will then be reimbursed to you by your home health insurance provider.
In case of accident: if you have an accident on the campus, the University's insurance will cover your costs. Please contact the Student Office or the International Office.
