Accommodation

Finding a place to stay can be one of the most challenging tasks when relocating to a foreign country. As in many other university towns, student accommodation in Reutlingen is at a premium and you should begin looking for somewhere to live as soon as possible.
The student residences near the campus cater for both men and women. There is one hostel for women only located nearer to the town centre. There are also some individual private rooms available on the open market. 

It is crucial to apply for a room as soon as possible. We advise you to apply to all of the housing associations mentioned here.

Rent for a single room costs approx. 210 - 270 EUR per month, a place in a double room costs approx. 160 - 180 EUR per month.

All student dorm rooms are furnished with "the basics" (bed, wardrobe, bookshelf, desk, chair, sink and mirror); showers and toilets are located on each floor and shared by students. Bed linens are not included. All halls of residence offer cooking facilities in a shared kitchen. These community kitchens are usually furnished with cooking utensils, but it might be a good idea to bring or buy your own pots, pans, cutlery, etc. 
As a resident of a student dorm you will be expected to abide by the house rules, and to respect other residents' privacy, including religion, language and cultural differences. 

A deposit of two months' rent is required for all accommodation options. The deposit will be refunded at the end of your stay, after you have officially cleared your room with the Building Manager.

All rental contracts are binding for one semester (March 1^st - August 31^st; September 1^st - February 28^th). If you wish to leave your room before your rental contract expires, you must either pay the rent for the remaining period or find somebody to take over your room and the remaining rent.
