Campus Facilities
On the spacious campus there are 17 university buildings providing approx. 24,000 m² of floor-space (lecture rooms, laboratories, test operations areas, and offices).
One special feature is the extensive teaching and testing facility belonging to the School of Textiles and Design. This is the only one of its kind in the world: 4,800 m² of lab space contain machinery for spinning cotton, worsted and woollen yarns, as well as for weaving, weft- and warp-knitting, and textile processing.
This facility is located in Building 1, together with the large labs for the Schools of Technology and Applied Chemistry.
Library
Even in the age of the Internet and the world-wide web a library remains a university's focal point for works of reference and research. Reutlingen's campus library provides all traditional services, such as access to the vast resources of the Germany-wide inter-library loan system, as well as all online research facilities. The university library serves both Reutlingen University and Ludwigsburg University of Education. It currently holds around 240,000 books and around 500 periodicals.
Dormitories
The dormitories in Pestalozzistrasse are a 5- minute walk away from the campus, which is located in the area of town known as Hohbuch. The dormitories downtown are reachable by bus; the service runs every 20 minutes. Supermarkets, banks, a paper store, a bakery, a butcher’s shop and a doctor’s surgery are all located in the Hohbuch area, also within walking distance of the campus in Pestalozzistrasse. Running tracks and sports facilities are also close to the university in attractive natural surroundings. Computing Centre
Computing Centre
The Computing Centre runs a high-speed campus-wide gigabit-Ethernet network, together with a series of central servers and a great number of individual work-stations. Approx. 1,800 networked individual work places are available to students. In addition, students can register their private laptops for access via LAN, which is available throughout the campus. The Computing Centre is open to users for up to 75 hours during the week.
Refectory and Cafeteria
Early breakfasts, morning and afternoon snacks, and a wide selection of mid-day meals are all available on campus in the refectory and cafeteria from 8:30 - 16:00. The same building also houses a bookshop and a branch office of the student health insurance company AOK, which is open every Tuesday from 10.00 - 14.00.
