University entry qualifications

1. Non-German candidates with German university entry qualifications
(Abitur, Fachhochschulreife) should apply directly to Reutlingen University.


2. Applicants with German citizenship and university entry qualifications from abroad
must have their certificate validated and their average grade assessed. The following authorities are responsible for the assessment and validation of foreign qualifications:

  • Applicants living outside Baden-Württemberg should contact the Education Ministry of the Federal State in Germany (Kultusministerium des Bundeslandes) where they are living. 
  • For applicants living outside the Federal Republic of Germany: Bezirksregierung Düsseldorf, Fischerstraße 10, 40477 Düsseldorf, Tel. +49 (0)211/475-5660
     

 

3. Applicants with foreign citizenship and non-German school-leaving qualifications
must prove, before applying to Reutlingen University, that these are equivalent to German university entry qualifications. In order to get your qualifications approved, please contact the "Ausländerstudienkolleg" (ASK) in Constance. 

The ASK examines your foreign school leaving certificate and decides

  • if it meets the requirements for studying in Germany
  • if it is possible to apply directly to Reutlingen University
  • if you must first take the "Feststellungsprüfung" at the ASK (i.e. the ASK decides that your qualifications do not satisfy German requirements, and you have to attend a preparatory course in Constance before you can study in Reutlingen.)

The ASK does NOT allocate study places. Applicants merely receive a certificate (Bescheinigung) with which they can apply to study at a university in Baden-Württemberg.

Deadlines for application to the ASK are as follows:

  • November 1st for admission in the following summer semester
  • May 1st for admission in the following winter semester.

4. Applicants from China
must first contact the APS (Akademische Prüfstelle, Academic Evaluation Centre) at the German Embassy in Peking before beginning their application procedure. The ASK in Constance cannot process Chinese applications without this APS-Certificate. Please click here for further information.
